It’s not just cops who enjoy their daily stop at the doughnuts shop, the old stereotype also extends to their police horses as well. This was the case for a Tampa Florida Police Department horse, at least. The horses there have developed quite a taste for the sweet treats, especially enjoying those donuts served hot and fresh by Krispy Kreme.

The department has made it clear that their horses love the donuts too! Recently, a doughnut-munching police equine was caught on camera gobbling down a doughnuts right out of an employee’s hand at the Krispy Kreme on North Florida Avenue. The horse’s human partner sat and watched as “Chad” wolfed down the treat.

The police department posted the video to its Facebook page. Though it was not just a sweet bribe, Chad and his human partner were actually taking part in a fundraiser to support the activities of the Special Olympics Hillsborough County Florida.

Chad isn’t the only four-legged member of the force with an appetite for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Last year, “Red” was caught on camera trotting right up to the drive through window of a Krispy Kreme on Kennedy Boulevard and gobbling up a jelly donut. He was an invited guest, part of the chain’s 10th annual Cops on Donut Shops fundraiser. Proceeds from that also went to benefit the Special Olympics.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports activities in Hillsborough County for children and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. It serves people ages eight and up. The organization offers 17 different sports to hundreds of athletes throughout Hillsborough County. An estimated 1,600 people volunteer to help out.
